About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our groundbreaking project focused on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets tailored for realistic software engineering challenges. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI research by leveraging high-quality public GitHub repositories to develop verifiable software engineering tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development, particularly in managing and analyzing complex codebases, automating development environments, and evaluating test coverage and quality. You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and refining datasets that help train LLMs to better understand and solve real-world software engineering problems, thereby influencing the future of AI-assisted coding and development tools.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with a solid understanding of modern development practices.
- Experience with Git, Docker, and setting up software pipelines for automation and deployment.
- Strong ability to comprehend and navigate large, complex codebases.
- Hands-on experience running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally.
- Prior contributions to open-source projects or experience evaluating open-source repositories is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and triage issues efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source libraries hosted on GitHub, identifying challenging problems for LLMs.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and environment automation, to facilitate efficient testing and evaluation.
- Assess unit test coverage and quality to ensure the robustness of repositories used for dataset creation.
- Modify and run codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance, particularly in bug-fixing and code repair scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to identify repositories and issues that are suitable for training datasets and challenging for AI models.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment to accelerate project milestones.
- Participate in iterative development cycles, providing feedback and insights to improve dataset quality and relevance.
