About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves contributing to the development of datasets aimed at training LLMs to solve realistic software engineering problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality public GitHub repositories, automation of development environments, and issue triaging. Your expertise will be instrumental in evaluating test coverage and quality, ensuring the datasets are comprehensive and representative of real-world coding scenarios. You will work closely with researchers to design and identify challenging repositories and issues for LLM evaluation, and may have the opportunity to lead junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency in version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and familiarity with setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run, modify, and test real-world projects locally, and contribute to open-source projects or evaluate their quality. Additional experience in LLM research, automation tools, or developer tools is considered a plus, along with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to project challenges.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenging tasks for LLMs.
- Set up, configure, and maintain code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup for testing and development.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and assess the quality of codebases to ensure dataset robustness.
- Modify and run codebases locally to test LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate with research teams to design datasets, identify repositories, and select issues that present meaningful challenges for LLMs.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and ensuring project milestones are met.
