About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Platform Analytics team at Cimpress India. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable data products that enable advanced cross-domain intelligence across our entire product portfolio. You will serve as a vital link between the complex data infrastructure provided by the Cimpress Data Platform and the strategic business needs, ensuring that data solutions are robust, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. The Senior Data Engineer will take ownership of the entire data lifecycle—from raw data ingestion to the creation of production-ready datasets—driving innovation and stability within our evolving data ecosystems. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with a talented team, influence architectural decisions, and contribute to the digital transformation of our company’s data capabilities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess over 4 years of experience in data engineering or related fields, preferably within eCommerce, marketing analytics, or large-scale data environments. Proficiency in SQL and Python is essential, along with hands-on experience with cloud-based data tools such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP. Candidates should have a solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and distributed systems architecture. Familiarity with modern data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, and DBT is highly desirable. Experience implementing and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows, as well as knowledge of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code, is required. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to debug and resolve production issues independently, and excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration are also essential. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is mandatory, with a master’s degree being an advantage.
Responsibilities
The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and deploying secure, efficient, and high-quality data solutions. Key responsibilities include collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and analytics teams to understand requirements and deliver impactful data products. You will resolve production incidents through root-cause analysis, optimize pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency, and implement best practices for logging, monitoring, and reliability. Leading technical discussions, providing architectural guidance, and contributing to project planning and estimation are integral parts of the role. You will also introduce innovative tools and technologies to improve scalability and reliability, define key data metrics, and establish instrumentation for measuring impact. Mentoring junior engineers and fostering an inclusive, collaborative team environment are also expected, ensuring the continuous growth and development of the data engineering function within Cimpress India.
