About The Role
We are seeking experienced Software Engineers (SWE Bench – Data Engineer / Data Science) to join our team and contribute to benchmark-driven evaluation projects. The role focuses on real-world data engineering and data science workflows, involving hands-on work with production-like datasets, data pipelines, and evaluation tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong foundations in data engineering and data science, with the ability to work across data preparation, analysis, and model-related workflows within complex codebases. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects that evaluate and enhance the performance of advanced AI systems, supporting Turing’s mission to push the boundaries of frontier AI research.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or Software Engineer with a focus on data workflows. Proficiency in Python is essential for data engineering and data science tasks. Demonstrable experience with data processing, analysis, and model-related workflows is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and experience working with both structured and unstructured data. The ability to navigate, understand, and modify complex, real-world codebases is crucial, along with skills in writing readable, reusable, and well-documented code. Strong problem-solving capabilities, particularly with algorithmic or data-intensive challenges, are essential. Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English are also required.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and validate data pipelines used in benchmarking and evaluation workflows, ensuring accuracy and reproducibility. Work with structured and unstructured datasets to support evaluation tasks, performing data processing, feature preparation, and validation for data science use cases. Write, modify, and run Python code to process data and support experiments locally, ensuring high-quality outputs. Evaluate data quality, transformations, and outputs to maintain integrity and reliability. Develop clean, well-documented, and reusable data workflows suitable for benchmarking purposes. Participate in code reviews to uphold high standards of code quality, maintainability, and efficiency. Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to design challenging, real-world data engineering and data science tasks that advance AI system evaluation and development.
