Field Service Technician – Firestop
Job Summary:
The Field Service Technician – Firestop, installs approved firestop, smoke-stop systems, designed to restore the rating to fire/smoke assemblies to compliant construction. These systems are designed and tested as a component of the life safety industry and require following a detailed set of instructions to ensure adequate installation.
Work is conducted primarily in hospital and commercial settings in all kinds of indoor and outdoor climates, above ceiling grid, usually in and around dust. This position is primarily responsible for the assessment of rated barriers and quality firestop application in hospitals and commercial buildings.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspect& repairfire/smokebarriers per NFPA/IBC/ULrequirements.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints andlife safety drawings.
- Document inspectionand repairresultsinelectronic reportingsystemusing a tablet.
- Provideaccurateand detailed documentation for customers’ code compliance.
- Document repairs that cannot be completed, obtain and record specifications for materials to be ordered.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbingcomponents.
- Install access doors inrated assemblies.
- Hang& Repairdrywall.
- Installation and repair of wallassemblies.(MetalFraming &Repair if Gypsum and Masonry Construction)
- Load and unloadprojectmaterialsand equipment.
- Complete prep work for all applications.
- Use common hand tools such ashammers,knives,chisels,pliers, screwdrivers,saws,drills,etc…
- Properlymaintainequipment and tools.
- Follow safety& Infection controlguidelines and procedures.
