Job Summary
The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales, managing distributors and sales teams, and expanding market presence across the assigned region. This role focuses on achieving primary and secondary sales targets, strengthening distribution networks, and building strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and key customers in the Tea / Food segment.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve regional sales targets, volume growth, and profitability objectives.
- Appoint, manage, and develop distributors, dealers, and channel partners in the assigned territories.
- Monitor primary and secondary sales, track outlet coverage, and ensure product availability and visibility.
- Develop and execute market expansion plans for new towns, outlets, and channels.
- Handle sales forecasting, budgeting, and regional sales planning in line with company goals.
- Lead and guide Area Sales Managers, Territory Sales Officers, and field sales staff; review performance and provide coaching.
- Conduct regular market visits for retailer contact, competitor tracking, scheme implementation, and feedback gathering.
- Implement trade promotions, consumer offers, and marketing campaigns in coordination with the marketing team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and institutional clients.
- Review sales reports, prepare regional MIS, and share insights with management.
- Ensure timely collection of outstanding payments and enforce credit discipline with distributors/customers.
- Coordinate with supply chain, logistics, and dispatch teams for smooth product availability and order fulfillment.
- Monitor team performance, identify skill gaps, and arrange training and development as required.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience handling multi-location sales teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of Tea / Food/FMCG markets, trade channels, and distribution structures.
- Proven experience in distributor/channel management, sales planning, and market development.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Good analytical ability and proficiency in sales reporting, MS Excel, and MIS tools.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate; MBA/PG in Marketing or related field preferred (optional – add if applicable).
