Role Overview
This role is responsible for managing end-to-end accounting, month-end close, and statutory compliance for India and South Africa. The position ensures financial accuracy, strong internal controls, and timely reporting, while collaborating with global finance teams, auditors, and external partners in a multi-country environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Maintain accurate books of accounts for India and South Africa
- Review bookkeeping entries and ensure correct coding and documentation
- Prepare and post month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, provisions, payroll, FX revaluations)
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations across AP, AR, bank, advances, and tax accounts
- Lead month-end close activities and ensure adherence to reporting timelines
- Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis
- Monitor and analyze cash flow to support business planning
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
- Review AP/AR ageing and drive collections for overdue balances
- Validate vendor onboarding, contracts, and tax treatment
- Oversee payment processes ensuring accuracy and control compliance
Compliance, Controls & Audit
- Ensure adherence to statutory and internal compliance requirements across India and South Africa
- Strengthen internal controls and identify process improvement opportunities
- Prepare audit schedules and manage statutory and internal audit queries
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Sales, and Customer Support on billing, documentation, and compliance inputs
- Support global finance teams with consolidation, reporting, and ad-hoc requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- 1-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in multi-entity or multi-country environments
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (Ind AS / IFRS) and month-end close processes
- Proven ability to independently manage country-level accounting and reconciliations
- Experience working with auditors and external stakeholders
- Proficient in Excel; experience with Xero or similar ERP systems preferred
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work across time zones in a global setup
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce; professional qualifications (CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA) preferred
- Experience with India or South Africa compliance and global teams is an advantage
