Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide. We are currently seeking a
Refractory Design Engineer for our Ahmedabad location. This position will provide engineering support for the Allied Sales organization; both domestic and international. This will include 3D/2D CAD Design to facilitate the preparation of quotations and proposals using design analysis, methodology assessment, engineering calculations, thermal analysis, drawings, bills of materials, and technical reports. Training on the Refractory Industry and product knowledge will be given.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Contact Sales to understand the technical requirements of their request for Design Engineering Services and collaborate to agree the most suitable deliverable / timescale to maximize the opportunity for winning the order.
- Utilize AutoDesk Inventor CAD package to complete designs of Refractory Furnace Linings or Pre-cast Refractory ‘Shapes’.
- Use the resulting design to; calculate volume estimates to determine material requirements (BOM), create 2D drawings for both internal and customer’s needs, perform thermal analysis and sometimes other engineering related documents.
- Upon receipt of a Purchase Order, develop your design and create drawings suitable to follow for customer construction or for internal production and quality assurance.
- Manage and prioritize the multiple allocated projects to meet or exceed expectation, and effectively communicate with sales, Application Engineering and occasionally a contractor or customer.
- Maintain personal knowledge and proficiency in application of current departmental and industry design procedures and software applications.
- Prepare graphic documents for Engineering presentations for inside seminars, meetings, Sales Conferences and for outside presentation of Engineering proposals.
- Attend field sales calls, meetings, technical presentations, and installations as required to assist the Sales Department and to promote Design, Allied and Allied products. (Some out of town and out of country overnight.)
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering (mechanical, civil, or aerospace) or other similar technical field is preferred, or an Associate of Science degree in an engineering field will be considered with appropriate coursework and experience.
- 1-3 years of Engineering experience.
- Excellent CAD skills, including proficiency with 3D solid modeling and 2D drafting.
- Ability to read and understand detailed drawings.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
- Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 1-3 times per year; 1-4 days each).
- Experience with high temperature industrial processing equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of heat transfer principles and experience with heat flow analysis software is a benefit.
- Experience with Refractory and Industrial Furnaces is very beneficial, but not essential.
