Developmental Kindergarten (DK)/Kindergarten Teacher
Position Summary:
The Developmental Kindergarten (DK) / Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young learners. This position focuses on supporting students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth, while recognizing the varying developmental readiness levels of DK and Kindergarten students.
Qualifications and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Must possess State of Michigan K-5 certification
- ZA or Early Childhood endorsement or early childhood experiences preferred
- Must be creative thinker, self-motivated, and energetic.
- Must be willing to embrace new teaching styles and systems of organization.
- Must be open to project-based learning ideas and enjoy a project-based, as well as musical, classroom.
- Must be willing to establish a learning environment with the characteristics of:

- Base instructional decisions on the goals and needs of individual learners, as well as the class as a whole.
- Apply early education research-based principles to teaching.

- Recognition of the diverse needs among students and commitment to differentiation in instructional approach, in order to meet the needs of all students.
- Demonstration of a strong knowledge of subject area being taught.
- Checking for and building of higher-level understanding in students.
- Efficient and effective use of instructional time.
- Establishment and maintenance of strong, appropriate, relationships with students and families.
- Maintenance of exceptional classroom management.
- Planning for and delivery of rigorous content.
- Utilize technology (as appropriate) to support instruction.
- Must be willing to apply knowledge and principles of the developmental nature of young children:
- Cognitive
- Linguistic
- Physical
- Social-Emotional
