About the role
We're looking for an experienced machine learning engineer to join our Recommendation Systems team. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and scaling high-performance, production-ready machine learning models and pipelines to power Reddit's content recommendation systems. You'll work closely with our data science, product, and engineering teams to build innovative solutions that leverage the latest advancements in machine learning and natural language processing.
What You'll Do:
- Design, implement, and maintain large-scale, high-performance machine learning pipelines to power Reddit's content recommendation systems
- Research and prototype new machine learning models and algorithms to improve the relevance and engagement of Reddit's recommendations
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Participate in technical discussions and peer reviews to share knowledge, provide feedback, and ensure high engineering standards
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of our machine learning engineering practice
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience building and deploying large-scale, high-performance machine learning systems in a production environment
- Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing
- Expertise in building and optimizing recommendation systems, ranking models, and contextual content understanding
- Excellent programming skills in Python and experience with popular ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn
- Proficiency in data engineering, including experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and data storage solutions (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
