Ashley is the #1 Furniture and Mattress company in North America. Red Mountain Retail owns and operates Ashley in North and Central Alabama.
The Receiving & Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing all inbound shipments, inventory accuracy, and stock control within the Ashley Furniture warehouse. This role ensures that furniture and accessories are received, stored, tracked, and issued accurately and efficiently while maintaining safety, quality, and company standards.
Receiving Operations
Oversee and manage all inbound deliveries from vendors and distribution centers
Verify shipments for accuracy, damage, and completeness against bills of lading and purchase orders
Ensure proper unloading, labeling, and staging of furniture and merchandise
Resolve receiving discrepancies, shortages, and damages promptly
Inventory Management
Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories
Investigate and correct inventory variances
Ensure proper storage, organization, and rotation of inventory to prevent damage
Team Leadership & Training
Supervise, train, and schedule receiving and inventory staff
Enforce safety procedures and proper material-handling practices
Monitor productivity and provide coaching and performance feedback
Reporting & Communication
Prepare inventory and receiving reports for management
Communicate inventory levels, issues, and operational needs clearly
Support audits and management reviews as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
2–5 years of warehouse, receiving, or inventory management experience
Experience supervising or leading warehouse staff
Strong knowledge of inventory control practices
Ability to lift, move, and manage large furniture items. Up to 100 lbs unassisted
