POSITION: Dental Patient Coordinator
LOCATION: Red Cliff Community Health Center
PROGRAM: Health Division
WAGE: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
SUPERVISOR: Dental Office Manager
THIS IS A REGULAR FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT POSITION
JOB SUMMARY: The Dental Patient Coordinator manages dental providers schedules while providing exceptional customer service. This position maintains and manages the schedule, patient referrals, and communication with patients and other staff members to provide excellent patient experiences.
Position Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet patients that present for dental appointments at the Red Cliff Community Health Center-Dental Department.
- Answers, directs phone calls for Dental Department. Return messages, as needed.
- Checks-in each patient upon arrival; verifies, updates and maintains patient demographic information, insurance information, and other required documentation.
- Registers new patients via Dentrix Enterprise.
- Obtains eligibility information for proof of tribal affiliation, if applicable.
- Accepts dental co-pays and payments according to the cash receipt policy.
- Schedules patient visits for all dental providers.
- Notify dental providers of patient arrival via electronic communication system.
- Alert affected staff of changes in the daily patient schedule.
- Complete patient referrals and send to dental specialist offices.
- Scans insurance cards, identification cards, and other documentation for health records.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of Health Division services. Assist patients in accessing available services and/or programs.
- Maintains confidentiality and safeguard the privacy of patients in common areas of clinic.
- Maintains work area and lobby in a neat and timely manner.
- Adheres to and supports facility policies, programs and activities.
- Advance job knowledge and skills through continuing education efforts per annual evaluation and with Supervisor approval.
- Attend staff and other meetings, in-services and other events as directed by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE:
- Computer literacy, in particular MS Xcel and Word (preferred).
- Ability to work under stress and maintain composure.
- Superior organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of high school diploma, HSED or GED required.
- Six months’ dental office experience, preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s licenses, vehicle and appropriate vehicle coverage and maintain driver’s eligibility as a condition of employment. Be eligible to be put on the tribe’s vehicle insurance policy.
Other Qualifications
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Considerable daily contact will be made with the general public, tribal leadership, Program Directors and staff, consultant(s), and the Tribal Community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The duties assigned to this position involve bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying. Items may be placed in overhead storage or shelving.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: All Tribal Buildings are smoke free.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to travel and attend meetings and trainings; overnight and out of town, both locally & nationally.

Any Behavior or Attitude that tarnishes the Image or Name of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa will be subject to immediate disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Indian preference will be applied in the case of equally qualified applicants, but all qualified applicants will be considered.
