Production Manager

At Red Bay Coffee, we believe coffee can be a vehicle for connection, culture, and positive change. We are looking for a hands-on Production Manager to help lead daily fulfillment and operational execution at our Oakland Roastery.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building organized workflows, leading small teams, and supporting day-to-day production and fulfillment operations within a collaborative environment.
The Production Manager oversees daily product fulfillment, shipping and receiving, inventory coordination, and production support operations while ensuring operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, timely deliveries, and adherence to food safety and quality standards. This role works closely with our Wholesale, Roastery, Retail Operations, E-Commerce, Inventory Control, and Customer Service teams to support production planning and overall operational continuity.
This is a highly collaborative and hands-on leadership role that requires active participation in day-to-day warehouse and fulfillment operations, schedule coverage, and delivery coordination when needed.
This position reports directly to the Director of Wholesale Operations and is based at our Oakland Roastery.
What You’ll Do
Lead and support a small production and fulfillment team through coaching, training, scheduling, performance management, and day-to-day operational leadership.
Oversee all shipping and receiving operations, including freight coordination, organization, and vendor communication.
Manage daily order fulfillment across wholesale, retail, and e-commerce channels while maintaining efficiency and quality standards.
Support production planning and inventory coordination to help ensure product availability and operational readiness.
Process and monitor fulfillment orders using ERP, inventory management, and shipping platforms including Shopify, Amazon, ShippingEasy, UPS, USPS, FedEx, PiikUp, 3PL systems, and related tools.
Partner cross-functionally with the Head of Wholesale and Customer Care teams regarding inventory levels, lead times, and fulfillment timelines.
Conduct month-end inventory counts for packaging materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory.
Ensure compliance with all employee safety, food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standards, including SQF-related practices.
Monitor and improve fulfillment and delivery performance metrics (KPIs).
Coordinate timely deliveries to grocery, wholesale, and retail partners, including staging, auditing inventory, replenishment, and occasional operation of company vehicles.
Maintain production schedule coverage and support operational continuity when staffing gaps arise.
Oversee Red Bay Coffee merchandise inventory, including apparel and accessories, ensuring products are organized, labeled, and fulfillment-ready.
Help maintain a professional, accountable, and team-oriented workplace culture.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 3 years of food and/or beverage manufacturing experience; coffee industry experience strongly preferred.
Experience leading hourly production, warehouse, or fulfillment employees.
Strong organizational and operational problem-solving skills.
Experience with ERP, inventory management, shipping, or fulfillment software platforms.
Working knowledge of Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office.
Food Handler or Food Safety Manager certification required.
Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment including pallet jacks and forklifts.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.
Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Experience maintaining and sanitizing production equipment and workspaces.
PCQI Certification is a plus.

Compensation: $72,000–$75,000 annually
