About The Role
Join a high-growth, venture-backed startup as an early technical hire. We are building a mobile-first platform that is transforming how entrepreneurs start and run their businesses, leveraging the frontier of AI tools. This role offers unparalleled ownership, impact, and the chance to shape the technical foundation of our core mobile product. As a key member of our engineering team, you will lead the development of our mobile application, working closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver a seamless user experience. Your expertise will be instrumental in architecting scalable, high-performance mobile solutions that are both innovative and reliable. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned React Native developer to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while working on the forefront of AI integration and mobile technology.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess over 5 years of software development experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to React Native and cross-platform mobile app development. Expertise in React Native core principles, Expo (including EAS), and TypeScript is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of profiling and optimizing complex mobile applications, resolving performance bottlenecks, and building scalable Design Systems. Experience with modern state management libraries such as Jotai, Zustand, or Redux is required. Familiarity with backend integrations via REST APIs, cloud platforms like Firebase, Supabase, or GCP, and advanced data fetching strategies is also necessary. Strong problem-solving skills, a user-centric approach, and excellent communication abilities are critical. Bonus points include experience with native development (Swift/Kotlin), mobile testing frameworks, CI/CD processes, and familiarity with JSI libraries like Reanimated v2+.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our mobile application using React Native and Expo (EAS), ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Architect and enhance a high-performance Design System utilizing TypeScript and component API best practices, ensuring component reusability, clear styling tokens, and comprehensive documentation, such as Storybook.
- Develop and maintain the core Network Layer, optimizing data fetching, error handling, caching strategies (using React Query or similar libraries), and data transformation processes.
- Drive app performance optimization efforts, focusing on reducing re-renders, minimizing bridge traffic, leveraging JSI for smooth animations, and optimizing startup times to maintain a consistent 60 FPS experience.
- Take full ownership of core mobile features from concept through deployment, ensuring timely delivery and high quality.
- Contribute to maintaining high code quality through rigorous peer reviews, knowledge sharing, and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with product goals and user needs.
