About The Role
Join a high-growth, venture-backed startup as an early technical hire and play a pivotal role in shaping our core mobile product. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for ownership, impact, and professional growth. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of our mobile application, ensuring it is performant, scalable, and user-friendly. As a key member of our engineering team, you will work closely with product and design teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions. Your expertise will help define the technical foundation of our platform, utilizing your deep knowledge of React Native, Expo, and modern mobile development practices. This role provides the chance to work on innovative features, optimize app performance, and contribute to a product that is transforming how entrepreneurs operate their businesses.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of software development experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to React Native development for cross-platform mobile applications. You should have a strong proficiency in React Native core principles, Expo (including EAS), TypeScript, and modern state management solutions such as Jotai, Zustand, or Redux. Proven experience in profiling and optimizing complex mobile applications is essential, including familiarity with tools like React Profiler and Flipper to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. Deep expertise in architecting and building scalable Design Systems, with a focus on modularity and performance, is required. Additionally, you should have extensive experience managing the network/data fetching layer, implementing advanced state management for server data, and ensuring robust caching and retry logic. Strong product sense, user-centric design focus, and proficiency in backend integrations with REST APIs and cloud platforms like Firebase, Supabase, or GCP are highly valued. Bonus points include experience with app store launches, native development (Swift/Kotlin), mobile testing frameworks, CI/CD processes, and familiarity with JSI libraries such as Reanimated v2+.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our mobile application using React Native and Expo (EAS), ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Architect and enhance a high-performance Design System utilizing TypeScript and component API best practices, ensuring reusability, clear styling tokens, and comprehensive documentation (e.g., using Storybook).
- Develop and maintain the core network layer, focusing on efficient data fetching, error handling, caching strategies, and data transformation to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Drive app performance optimization by reducing re-renders, minimizing bridge traffic, leveraging JSI for smooth animations, and optimizing startup times to maintain a consistent 60 FPS experience.
- Take full ownership of core mobile features from concept through deployment, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Contribute to maintaining high code quality through rigorous peer reviews, knowledge sharing, and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in mobile development and incorporate them into the platform.
