About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior React Native Developer to join our technical team as an early key hire. This role offers the unique opportunity to influence the core architecture of our mobile platform, taking ownership of critical features from conception through deployment. As part of our team, you will work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to craft a seamless, high-quality mobile experience. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing our mobile application, ensuring it meets the highest standards of performance, usability, and scalability. This position is ideal for someone eager to work at the frontier of AI integration within mobile products, with a focus on ownership, innovation, and impactful development.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess over five years of professional software development experience, with at least three years dedicated specifically to React Native and cross-platform mobile app development. You should have an expert understanding of React Native core principles, Expo (including EAS), and TypeScript, alongside modern state management libraries such as Jotai, Zustand, or Redux. Proven experience in profiling and optimizing complex mobile applications using tools like React Profiler and Flipper is essential, as is a deep understanding of performance bottlenecks related to rendering, memory, and bridge traffic. Additionally, you should have extensive experience designing scalable Design Systems emphasizing modularity and performance, as well as managing network layers with advanced data fetching strategies, including the use of Tanstack Query, SWR, or Apollo. Strong backend integration skills with REST APIs and familiarity with cloud platforms like Firebase, Supabase, or GCP are also required. A strong product sense, user-centric mindset, and excellent communication skills are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our mobile application using React Native and Expo (EAS), ensuring high performance, stability, and scalability.
- Architect and enhance a high-performance Design System utilizing TypeScript and component API best practices, focusing on reusability, clear styling tokens, and comprehensive documentation (e.g., Storybook).
- Develop and maintain the core network layer, implementing efficient data fetching, error handling, caching strategies, and data transformation, primarily using libraries like React Query.
- Drive app performance optimization initiatives, including reducing re-renders, minimizing bridge traffic, leveraging JSI for animations, and optimizing startup times to deliver a smooth 60 FPS user experience.
- Take full ownership of core mobile features, from initial concept through to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality standards.
- Contribute to maintaining high code quality through rigorous peer reviews, knowledge sharing, and adherence to best practices in software development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend services and ensure seamless user experiences across platforms.
