About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior React Native Developer to join our team as an early technical hire. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the technical direction of our flagship mobile application, taking full ownership of core features from conception through deployment. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to craft a high-performance, scalable, and user-friendly mobile experience. Your expertise will be instrumental in architecting our design system, optimizing app performance, and ensuring robust data handling. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, values ownership, and is eager to make a tangible impact on a groundbreaking product that is set to redefine how entrepreneurs operate.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess over five years of software development experience, with at least three years dedicated specifically to React Native and cross-platform mobile app development. You should have a deep understanding of React Native core principles, Expo (including EAS), and modern state management libraries such as Jotai, Zustand, or Redux. Proven expertise in profiling and optimizing complex mobile applications using tools like React Profiler and Flipper is essential. Additionally, you should have extensive experience in designing scalable and modular Design Systems, managing network layers with advanced data fetching strategies, and integrating with backend services via REST APIs. Strong product sense, user-centric design focus, and familiarity with cloud platforms such as Firebase, Supabase, or GCP are also required. Bonus points are awarded for experience with native development (Swift/Kotlin), mobile testing frameworks, CI/CD processes, and familiarity with JSI libraries like Reanimated v2+.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of our mobile application utilizing React Native and Expo (EAS).
- Architect and enhance a high-performance Design System, ensuring component reusability, clear styling tokens, comprehensive documentation (e.g., Storybook), and adherence to best practices.
- Develop and maintain the core network layer, ensuring efficient data fetching, error handling, caching strategies (using React Query or similar libraries), and effective data transformation.
- Drive app performance optimization efforts, focusing on reducing re-renders, minimizing bridge traffic, leveraging JSI for animations, and optimizing startup and bundle times to provide a smooth 60 FPS experience.
- Take full ownership of key mobile features, from initial concept through to deployment, ensuring high quality and timely releases.
- Contribute to code quality through rigorous peer reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with product goals and user needs.
