About The Role
Join a high-growth, venture-backed startup as an early technical hire at Fig. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping the technical foundation of our core mobile product. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned React Native developer to lead the design, development, and optimization of our mobile application. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, user-centric features that align with our vision of simplifying entrepreneurship through cutting-edge AI tools. Your contributions will directly influence the user experience and the overall success of our platform, offering unparalleled ownership and impact in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3+ years dedicated to React Native development for cross-platform mobile applications.
- Expertise in React Native core principles, including proficiency with Expo (including EAS), TypeScript, and modern state management solutions such as Jotai, Zustand, or Redux.
- Proven experience in profiling and optimizing complex mobile applications, utilizing tools like React Profiler and Flipper to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Deep understanding of architecting and building scalable Design Systems with a focus on modularity, reusability, and performance.
- Extensive experience managing network and data fetching layers, including advanced use of state management libraries like Tanstack Query, SWR, or Apollo, with a focus on robust retry logic, caching, and optimistic UI updates.
- Strong product sense with a focus on delivering intuitive, user-centric experiences.
- Proficiency in backend integration via REST APIs and familiarity with cloud platforms such as Firebase, Supabase, or Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our mobile application using React Native and Expo (EAS), ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Architect and enhance a high-performance Design System, implementing best practices in component API design, styling tokens, and documentation using tools like Storybook.
- Develop and maintain the core network layer, ensuring efficient data fetching, error handling, caching strategies, and data transformation processes.
- Drive app performance optimization efforts by reducing unnecessary re-renders, minimizing bridge traffic, leveraging JSI for smooth animations, and optimizing startup times to maintain a consistent 60 FPS experience.
- Take ownership of core mobile features from conceptualization through deployment, ensuring timely delivery and high quality.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless, user-friendly features.
- Contribute to maintaining high code quality through rigorous peer reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing practices.
