Job Title : Chemical Regulatory Affairs Specialist | REACH Specialist

Our client is looking for a REACH Specialist to ensure full compliance with EU REACH and REACH-equivalent chemical regulations across global operations. This role is vital in maintaining regulatory readiness, safeguarding market access, and supporting product safety and business continuity in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Chemical Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure ongoing compliance with REACH and comparable international chemical regulations.
- Support regulatory obligations for substances, mixtures, and articles amid evolving legal frameworks.
- Dossier Preparation & Maintenance
- Compile, submit, and maintain regulatory registrations, notifications, declarations, and certifications in line with applicable requirements.
- Ensure dossiers remain accurate, up to date, and inspection-ready.
- Regulatory Authority & Consortium Engagement
- Serve as the main point of contact for regulatory authorities, substance information exchange forums (SIEFs), and industry consortia.
- Coordinate technical communications and submissions with external stakeholders.
- Systems & Data Oversight
- Maintain chemical compliance data within SAP and relevant regulatory systems.
- Ensure data integrity, traceability, and accessibility for audits and internal use.
- Training & Advisory Support
- Deliver regulatory training and provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams.
- Advise the business on compliance strategies, regulatory risks, and marketability impacts.
- Process & Documentation Management
- Develop and maintain structured documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures to support compliance activities.
- Product Safety Contribution
- Support substance and product classification under GHS and Dangerous Goods regulations.
- Author, review, and manage regionally compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Customer & Internal Support
- Respond to regulatory and compliance-related questions from internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Provide clear, pragmatic regulatory interpretations and solutions.
- Regulatory Intelligence & Continuous Improvement
- Track regulatory developments and proactively adjust compliance strategies to maintain competitiveness.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within product safety and regulatory affairs.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Undertake related tasks to support broader compliance and product safety objectives.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry or Biology preferred).
- Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) is an advantage.
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience with REACH or REACH-like regulations, including registrations and notifications for chemicals or articles.
Certifications & Language Skills
- Certifications related to REACH and regulatory systems (e.g., REACH Officer, REACH-IT, CHESAR, IUCLID 6).
- Business-level fluency in English and German.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong working knowledge of SAP, Excel, and regulatory authority platforms.
- Excellent organizational and project management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple regulatory projects concurrently (approximately 10).
- Collaborative mindset with exposure to environmental, chemical, biological, regulatory, IT, or analytical disciplines.
- Willingness to work hands-on in a dynamic regulatory environment.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
