Role Description The Radiation Safety Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at the Pune Division, responsible for overseeing radiation protection programs and compliance with applicable regulations and standards. The role includes monitoring and controlling the use of radiation sources and radioactive materials, conducting regular radiation surveys, and managing dosimetry for personnel working with or near radiation. The Radiation Safety Officer will develop and update radiation safety procedures, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports for internal reviews and regulatory authorities. Daily responsibilities also involve training and advising staff on radiation safety practices, investigating potential incidents or abnormal exposures, and coordinating with health physics and safety teams to ensure a safe working environment. The role requires close collaboration with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to integrate radiation safety into routine processes.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong knowledge of radiation safety and health physics, including regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Candidates should possess skills in dosimetry and radiation monitoring, with the ability to interpret exposure data and implement appropriate controls.
- Candidates should possess experience in handling and controlling radioactive materials, including storage, transport, and disposal in line with safety standards.
- Candidates should possess the ability to develop and implement radiation safety procedures, conduct risk assessments, and provide safety training.
- Relevant degree or diploma in Physics, Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Radiological Safety, or a related technical field.
- Professional certification or authorization as a Radiation Safety Officer, where required by local regulations, is highly beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to maintain accurate documentation and reports.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and promote a safety-focused culture.
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, particularly where radiation sources or non-destructive testing are used, is an advantage.
