Swish is a 10-minute food delivery platform where we build and deliver our own food. From recipes to final delivery, everything is owned and operated in-house. Our NPD team works on creating, testing, and launching new food products across our kitchens. This is a fast-paced environment where ideas quickly move from trials to live products.
As an R&D Chef, you will build and scale our food offerings by creating new menu items, standardizing recipes, and optimizing for taste, speed, and consistency. You will balance cost and scalability while working with operations, QA, and supply teams to take products from idea to launch.
Job Description
- Lead New Product Development initiatives across QSR and FMCG product categories.
- Conceptualize, develop, and standardize innovative food products aligned with brand and business strategy.
- Translate culinary concepts into scalable recipes suitable for dark kitchens and manufacturing operations.
- Drive end-to-end product development from ideation to commercialization.
- Collaborate with QA, Packaging, Procurement, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure successful product launches.
- Ensure products meet taste benchmarks, operational feasibility, shelf-life requirements, and cost targets.
- Lead pilot runs, product validations, and execution readiness across locations.
- Support ingredient sourcing, vendor selection, and commercial feasibility during development stages.
- Continuously improve existing menu offerings through reformulation and optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new menu concepts, recipes, and product innovations for QSR and FMCG formats.
- Lead kitchen trials, benchmarking exercises, and sensory evaluations.
- Standardize recipes including ingredient specifications, batch sizes, cooking methods, and assembly SOPs.
- Ensure products are scalable across multiple kitchens and production units.
- Conduct pilot runs and validate execution time, holding stability, delivery performance, and product consistency.
- Work closely with Procurement for ingredient sourcing, alternate ingredient validation, and vendor approvals.
- Collaborate with Packaging Technologist to finalize packaging compatible with product performance.
- Drive food cost optimization while maintaining quality and taste standards.
- Guide R&D Trainees and junior team members during trials and product execution.
- Maintain product development documentation including recipes, specifications, and trial reports.
- Support QA team in shelf-life validation and food safety compliance.
- Train Operations teams during new product launches and SOP rollouts.
- Monitor product performance post-launch and implement continuous improvements.
- Ensure alignment with brand standards, customer expectations, and business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma in: Culinary Arts / Hotel Management / Food Production / Culinary Science
- 10-12 years of experience in Product Development, QSR, Cloud Kitchen, or FMCG food manufacturing environment.
- Experience in menu innovation, recipe standardization, and large-scale production preferred.
- Prior exposure to NPD, central kitchen operations, or multi-brand food concepts is an advantage.
