Quick Commerce & Operations Sales Intern
ProPlant Foods Private Limited 📍 IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai, Maharashtra (On-Site) 🕐 Full-Time Internship | 3-Month Probation → PPO (Full-Time Offer)
About ProPlant Foods
ProPlant Foods Private Limited is a trailblazing plant-based food company proudly incubated at IIT Bombay's Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE). We are on a mission to revolutionise the Indian food ecosystem by crafting innovative, sustainable, and delicious plant-based alternatives that don't compromise on taste, nutrition, or convenience.
Headquartered at the prestigious Rahul Bajaj Technology Innovation Centre on the IIT Bombay campus, we sit at the intersection of cutting-edge food technology, modern commerce, and consumer innovation. Our products are rapidly gaining traction across India's fastest-growing retail channels — from quick commerce giants like Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart to general trade and modern trade networks spanning multiple cities.
At ProPlant Foods, we believe that the future of food is plant-based — and we're building that future, one product at a time. If you're excited about being part of a high-growth startup that is redefining how India eats, this is your opportunity.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a driven, resourceful, and detail-oriented Quick Commerce & Operation Sales Intern to join our Sales & Operations team. This is not your typical internship — it's a launchpad into the world of FMCG, quick commerce, and supply chain management at one of India's most exciting food-tech startups.
As a QComm & Ops Sales Intern, you will work directly with the founding team and leadership to drive business expansion, manage high-stakes quick commerce accounts, build and scale multi-city distribution networks, and streamline supply chain operations from the ground up. You'll get real ownership, real challenges, and real impact — from Day 1.
This is a full-time, on-site role based out of our IIT Bombay office in Powai, Mumbai. The internship runs for a 3-month probation period, after which high-performing interns will receive a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) for a full-time position with the company.

- Department: Sales & Operations
- Location: IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai, Maharashtra (On-Site)
- Employment Type: Full-Time Internship (On-Site)
- Reports To: Head of Sales & Operations
- Duration: 3 Months Probation → Pre-Placement Offer (PPO)

What You'll Be Doing
Your role will span four critical pillars of our business. Here's what a typical week might look like:
1. Business Expansion & Sales Growth
You'll be at the forefront of ProPlant's growth engine, identifying new markets and forging partnerships that expand our footprint across India.
- Identify, prospect, and onboard new retail partners, institutional buyers, and distribution partners across target cities and regions.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new city launches, channel entries, and product introductions.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key accounts, modern trade chains, general trade partners, and channel distributors.
- Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify whitespace opportunities, emerging consumer trends, and pricing benchmarks.
- Track and analyse sales performance metrics across channels; prepare detailed weekly and monthly reports with data-driven, actionable insights for the leadership team.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align promotional campaigns, trade offers, and in-store activations with sales objectives.
- Represent ProPlant Foods at industry events, trade shows, buyer meetings, and distributor conferences as needed.
2. Quick Commerce Account Management
Quick commerce is the fastest-growing retail channel in India, and you'll be the person making sure ProPlant wins on every platform.
- Manage the end-to-end operations of ProPlant's quick commerce accounts across platforms including Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket, JioMart, and other emerging Q-comm players.
- Ensure optimal product listings with accurate catalogues, high-quality imagery, compelling product descriptions, correct pricing, and compliance with platform-specific guidelines.
- Plan, execute, and monitor promotional campaigns, flash sales, platform-specific offers, and visibility boosts across all Q-comm channels.
- Monitor real-time inventory levels at dark stores, micro-fulfilment centres, and platform warehouses; coordinate timely replenishments and stock transfers to prevent stockouts and minimise dead stock.
- Analyse platform-level performance data — including impressions, click-through rates, conversion rates, average order values, and ad ROI — to optimise product visibility, search rankings, and revenue.
- Liaise with platform account managers and category teams to negotiate better placement, secure promotional slots, and resolve operational issues (returns, damages, listing errors).
- Stay up to date with platform algorithm changes, new feature rollouts, and competitor activity; recommend tactical adjustments to maintain a competitive edge.
- Prepare detailed Q-comm performance dashboards and present insights to the leadership team on a weekly basis.
3. Multi-City Distribution Management
Scaling distribution across India is one of our biggest priorities, and you'll play a hands-on role in making it happen.
- Coordinate with distributors and stockists across multiple cities and states to ensure seamless product availability, timely deliveries, and consistent service levels.
- Assist in identifying, evaluating, and appointing new distributors in target markets; manage the onboarding process including documentation, trade terms negotiation, and credit limit setup.
- Monitor distributor-wise sell-in and sell-through data, track secondary sales, manage returns and expiry claims, and follow up on outstanding payments and receivables.
- Develop and maintain distributor scorecards to evaluate performance on parameters such as fill rates, delivery timelines, coverage expansion, and payment compliance.
- Support regional expansion initiatives by conducting market potential assessments, mapping retail density, identifying distribution gaps, and recommending optimal route-to-market strategies.
- Coordinate with logistics partners for inter-city stock movement, ensuring optimal transportation costs and delivery timelines.
- Build strong working relationships with distribution partners; conduct regular business reviews and provide them with sales tools, product training, and promotional support.
4. Supply Chain & Operations Excellence
Behind every great product is a seamless supply chain, and you'll help build ours.
- Collaborate closely with the supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timely dispatch, accurate order fulfilment, and last-mile delivery efficiency.
- Monitor and improve key operational KPIs including order fulfilment rates, on-time delivery percentages, warehouse-to-shelf turnaround time, and return/damage rates.
- Assist in demand forecasting and production planning by analysing historical sales trends, seasonal demand patterns, promotional uplift, and platform-specific growth trajectories.
- Help develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical operational workflows including order processing, inventory management, returns handling, and distributor servicing.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and warehousing partners to optimise storage, picking, packing, and shipping operations.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the supply chain; recommend and implement process improvements to reduce costs and improve service levels.
- Support inventory management activities including cycle counts, stock reconciliation, expiry tracking, and FIFO compliance across all storage locations.
- Assist in vendor coordination for packaging materials, raw materials, and co-packing requirements as needed.
