Quantity Surveyor – Glazing & Cladding Specialist
About the Role:
Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in the construction industry, and specialised expertise in glazing and cladding systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of commercial contractual frameworks and demonstrate proficiency in managing project costs, contract administration, and dispute resolution.
This role is key to ensuring commercial and financial success across our projects, particularly where complex façade, cladding, and glazing packages are involved.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation & Budgeting:
Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for glazing and cladding works.
Assist in tender preparation and procurement strategy.
Contract Management:
Administer contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC, etc.) and sub-contract agreements.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage change control processes.
Draft and negotiate terms, variations, and claims in accordance with legal frameworks.
Valuation & Payment:
Conduct interim valuations and final accounts.
Assess subcontractor applications and prepare payment notices.
Commercial Reporting:
Monitor project cost performance and provide detailed financial reports.
Support forecasting and cost-to-complete assessments.
Risk & Dispute Resolution:
Identify commercial risks and provide strategic recommendations.
Manage and resolve contractual disputes, claims, and legal issues in collaboration with legal teams.
Technical Collaboration:
Work closely with design and site teams on glazing and cladding packages.
Attend technical reviews and site inspections as required.
Requirements:
Essential:
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a focus on glazing and cladding systems.
Strong knowledge of contract law and standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT, NEC).
Demonstrated experience in contractual claims, dispute resolution, and commercial negotiations.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
MRICS or working towards chartership.
Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or specialist façade subcontractors.
Familiarity with BIM, digital take-off tools, or cost management software.
