Job Description for a Quantity Surveyor (Infrastructure Projects):
Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure Projects Department: Project Controls / Construction Management Reports To: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager
Job Summary:
The Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure is responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of large-scale infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, utilities, and civil works. The role ensures cost efficiency, accurate forecasting, and contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle — from tendering to final handover.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents for infrastructure works.
· Conduct feasibility studies and cost planning.
· Manage and control project budgets, ensuring expenditures align with approved cost limits.
· Evaluate contractor and subcontractor quotations and prepare recommendations for award.
· Review and administer contracts in line with FIDIC and other standard forms.
· Assess, verify, and certify progress claims, variations, and change orders.
· Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and cost-to-complete statements.
· Conduct value engineering and risk assessment to optimise project costs.
· Support procurement and contract management activities for materials and services.
· Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure financial transparency and accountability.
· Prepare and finalise project accounts at completion.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
· Minimum 5–8 years of experience in quantity surveying within the infrastructure or civil engineering sector (roads, highways, drainage, utilities, bridges, etc.).
· Strong understanding of infrastructure construction methods, materials, and cost drivers.
· Proficient in cost estimation and management software (e.g., Candy, CostX, Excel, or equivalent).
· Working knowledge of FIDIC and other standard forms of contract. (Preferred)
· Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
