Role Purpose: The Quality Excellence professional is the Floor General of NQCX — the person who makes Built-in Quality real, every single day, across every workstation, every shift, and every team member. This role owns the daily operational heartbeat of PRAMAN and Built-in Quality Assurance (DRISHTI + NETRA), translating the NQCX vision into disciplined floor execution. With 70% technical grounding and an analytical mindset sharpened for reliability thinking, this leader ensures that quality is not inspected in — it is built in. They are the trusted executioner and the NQCX Head, responsible for cultural transformation, process excellence, and zero-escape quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
01 | Floor Ownership & Daily Governance
- Own daily schedule adherence across PRAMAN, DRISHTI (Manufacturing Quality) and NETRA (Testing)

- Conduct structured Gemba walks - identify deviations, enforce standards, and drive immediate corrective actions
- Lead daily tier meetings with QX Captains - review previous shift performance, address blockers, set shift priorities
- Maintain visual management systems on the floor-quality boards, FTR tracking, defect trend displays
- Report daily floor performance, schedule adherence, and quality status directly to NQCX Head
- Own escalation management - know when to hold, when to escalate, and never allow silent failures
02 | Technical Quality Leadership - Reliability Lens
- Apply technical depth to assess manufacturing quality issues through a product reliability perspective –not just compliance
- Distinguish between cosmetic deviations and reliability-critical defects - prioritise accordingly
- Understand power electronics product architecture (Inverters, Chargers, BMS) sufficiently to assess downstream impact of floor quality issues
- Interface with the Integrity Team rapidly when floor issues carry design or reliability implications
- Drive process FMEA reviews with floor teams — identify process risks before they become field failures
- Identify product quality glitches early - use floor data and reliability thinking to detect weak signals
03 | Analytics & MIS - Intelligence-Driven Operations
- Build and maintain comprehensive MIS for floor quality - FTR, defect pareto, yield trends, rework rates,
escape rates
- Analyse manufacturing quality data with structured methodology - 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Is/Is-Not
- Convert floor data into actionable insights - not just reports, but decisions
- Track and report quality KPIs with trend analysis - provide early warning signals before issues escalate
- Drive data-based daily management - no assumption-based decisions on the floor
- Maintain audit-ready documentation across PRAMAN and BIQ functions at all times
04 | Cultural Transformation & People Leadership
- Lead cultural transformation across a mixed team of 50-60 — upgrading mindset from inspection-based to Built-in Quality thinking
- Develop QX Captains and HPATS into quality ownership champions — build the next layer of quality leadership
- Drive the NQCX vision on the floor - make 'Right First Time, Every Time, Everywhere' a lived behaviour, not a poster
- Create a psychologically safe environment where floor teams raise quality concerns without fear
- Run structured capability building programmes for technicians and HPATs in quality methods and standards
- Attract, retain and grow intrapreneurial quality talent aligned with Newen's growth ambitions
05 | Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Own SOP development and improvement across manufacturing quality and incoming material processes
- Drive Lean Manufacturing principles on the floor - eliminate waste in quality processes
- Lead Six Sigma improvement projects for chronic quality issues - Green Belt minimum.
- Identify process improvement opportunities through floor data and implement with cross-functional teams
- Support internal and process audits (ISO 9001, VDA 6.3) - ensure floor processes are always audit-ready
- Actively contribute to manufacturing quality improvement initiatives with data-backed proposals
Skills & Competencies:
Technical Depth Required
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality principles - Built-in Quality, defect prevention, process control
- Product reliability thinking ability to assess quality deviations through field failure and product life lens
- Sound knowledge of power electronics manufacturing processes - assembly, PCBA, wiring, testing workflows
- Process FMEA - identification and mitigation of manufacturing process risks
- APQP/PPAP― working knowledge of new product quality planning in manufacturing context
- ISO 9001-deep working knowledge, Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certified (mandatory)
- VDA 6.3 — Process Audit standard knowledge; certification strongly preferred
- Incoming material quality-acceptance criteria, sampling plans, material disposition
- Root cause analysis - 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Is/Is-Not-structured and disciplined application
Analytical & Intelligence
• MIS development and management-quality dashboards, KPI tracking, trend reporting
- Manufacturing data analysis — FTR, yield, defect pareto, escape rate, rework cost
- Reliability-informed analytics - reading data through the lens of product life and field impact
- Early warning capability - identifying weak signals in process data before escapes occur
- Structured problem solving — disciplined methodology, not intuition-only decisions

Tools & Software
• MS Excel (Advanced) — MIS, data analysis, quality tracking
- Power BI / Tableau or equivalent — floor quality dashboards preferred
- ERP / QMS platforms -or equivalent
- MS Office Suite - documentation, SOPs, reporting
Qualifications & Experience
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Production Engineering
- 12 to 15 years of experience in Manufacturing Quality, Built-in Quality, or Quality Operations roles
- Minimum 5 years in a people leadership role managing multi-disciplinary quality teams
- Proven experience in ISO 9001 implementation and auditing - Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification mandatory
- VDA 6.3 Process Audit knowledge
- Six Sigma Green Belt minimum
- Experience in power electronics, energy storage, or capital equipment manufacturing strongly preferred
- Demonstrated track record of driving cultural transformation in a manufacturing quality environment
- Prior experience managing incoming material quality (SQA / IQC) is an advantage
