Looking for an Operator

We are in search of an experienced equipment Operator to join our hardworking team and grow with us. The ideal candidate is a reliable self-starter who thrives in the field or shop, excels in collaboration with a small crew, and can safely set up, maintain and operate heavy equipment with skill. This is a full-time, in-person position with competitive salary compensation based on experience. If you're coachable, take pride in your work, and want to contribute to quality infrastructure projects, we're looking for you.

About the Company

We are a small and growing civil construction firm that builds residential infrastructure for developers and new neighborhoods. We are a team of 20+ people made up of office administrators, field operators, coordinators, laborers and mechanics. We are hardworking, results-oriented, reliable, consistent, and a tight-knit team. We are proud of our work and the quality we offer.

Job Description, Responsibilities, and Measurements of Performance

As our team's Operator, you'll work with a small field crew to punch out job sites, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high aesthetic standards. This hands-on role is primarily equipment operation, requiring you to keep a maintenance schedule with minimal downtime and operate the equipment to achieve job specific goals. Here's what you'll do and how success is measured:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Regularly test operation of machines and perform preventative maintenance, including calibration and cleaning, to keep equipment running and jobs on schedule.
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Set up and operate machinery like tractors, skid steers, and curb machines (preferred) to assist with grading, concrete work, and site prep; maintain equipment in good working order during operation, recognizing any flaws that may require a fix during a shift.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Keep accurate and up-to-date logs on all equipment and machinery, including inventory and receipts/invoices.
  • Safety & Compliance: Conduct duties in keeping with company safety protocols, conduct daily safety checks, and comply with safety, PPE and environmental regulations.
  • Key Measurements of Success:
  • Complete punch-out tasks on assigned job sites within schedule (e.g., dressing and cleanup finished before final inspection).
  • Maintain minimal safety incidents through proactive oversight.
  • Achieve client satisfaction with finished site aesthetics (e.g., no rework needed).

Day-to-Day Expectations of this Position

  • Working Conditions: You'll spend your time between the warehouse shop and in the field at job sites, maintaining and operating equipment. Expect a fast-paced environment with physical demands and variable hours based on project needs and weather conditions.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to job sites within the region as needed is required, typically within driving distance of our office. A valid driver's license is essential, and a Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not mandatory.

What We Offer

This position comes with a competitive compensation package, support, and benefits:

  • Paid holidays from day one
  • PTO: 80 hours after 1 year
  • Company paid life insurance (1 year of salary)
  • Company paid Short Term Disability
  • Health Insurance after 60 days
  • 401k with typical match after 60 days
  • Vehicle allowance for use of personal vehicle
  • More detailed benefits provided during hiring process
  • Growth opportunities through hands-on training, mentorship from the General Superintendent, and exposure to diverse projects.
  • A tight-knit, results-driven team culture where your work directly impacts our reputation for quality.
  • Company-provided equipment and resources to get the job done right.

The Requirements of a Great Candidate

  • Experience working with a crew and keeping jobs on target with project deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and site plans.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Key Skills
