QA Engineer (Product Quality Owner) – Zesty Monk

Role Overview
We’re looking for a Quality Owner who will define, build, and drive the entire QA function at Zesty Monk. You won’t be handed test cases—you’ll define what quality means, build the systems to ensure it, and be accountable for every release that goes out.
If you’ve been the person people rely on when releases feel risky—and you’ve stepped in to bring structure and clarity—this role is for you.
What You’ll Own
- Build and scale the end-to-end QA process: test strategy, planning, data setup, entry/exit criteria, and release gates
- Own release quality and final sign-off before production deployments
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across web and mobile platforms
- Validate APIs and data layers across services to ensure system integrity
- Manage the defect lifecycle (JIRA/Azure DevOps): clear logging, prioritization, and closure tracking
- Lead production issue triage: reproduce, isolate root causes, and collaborate with engineering on fixes
- Design, build, and maintain test automation frameworks (not just execution—ownership of coverage growth)
- Actively participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and retrospectives—bringing in a quality-first perspective early
- Identify process gaps causing defects or rework and implement improvements
- Champion a shift-left testing culture across the team
Must-Have Skills
- 4–6 years of experience in software testing, with at least 2+ years in a product-based environment
- Strong hands-on experience in manual testing (functional, regression, UAT)
- Proven experience in test automation using Selenium and/or Appium (mandatory)
- Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, etc.)
- Solid SQL skills for database validation and data verification
- Hands-on experience with JIRA or Azure DevOps for test and defect management
- Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Experience testing both web and mobile applications
Good to Have
- Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Exposure to performance testing tools (JMeter, k6)
- Familiarity with Docker and cloud environments (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Prior experience in setting up QA processes or frameworks from scratch

Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
