Company Description
Velo is an AI-powered platform designed to transform raw recordings, files, and URLs into engaging video messages. The tool is versatile and ideal for creating pitches, tutorials, demos, async updates, courses, and more. Velo is focused on enhancing communication by enabling users to deliver impactful and professional video content that resonates with their audience. By simplifying the video creation process, Velo empowers individuals and organisations to share their stories effectively.
About the Role
You’ll be embedded in the product team from day one, owning the quality surface end-to-end while also getting your hands dirty with the product itself.
Build and maintain the automation framework, write meaningful test coverage across our video processing pipeline and web application, catch what matters before it ships.
What You'll Own :
1. Test Automation and Architecture
- Design, build, and maintain the comprehensive test automation framework from scratch, covering E2E, integration, and API tests.
- Integrate test suites into the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
- Define and implement the optimal test automation stack and strategy (the "pyramid").
2. Quality Gates for Core Processing Pipeline
- Develop and maintain validation layers for our core video processing pipeline, which utilises vision models and audio processing.
- Build checks to catch regressions in output quality and functional correctness.
3. Product Quality and Hygiene (Product Quality Generalist)
- Proactively identify, file, and resolve product quality issues, acting as the "hygiene layer" for the product.
- Execute minor UI fixes, update front-end copy, manage data cleanup, perform configuration updates, and address other small-but-critical tasks to maintain product polish.
4. Monitoring and Observability
- Configure and manage monitoring tools, set up alerts, and track error rates and pipeline health.
- Serve as the primary contact for system failure and performance issues.
5. Quality Culture and Manual QA
- Establish the quality standards, processes, and rituals for the engineering team as the first quality-focused hire.
- Strategically apply manual and exploratory testing when judgment and product exploration are required over automation.
What we're Looking for:
- 4–5 years in QA roles, with strong automation chops. You’ve built test frameworks, not just maintained them.
- Proficiency in at least one automation stack :- Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent. API testing with Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
- Comfortable writing production-adjacent code :- JavaScript, TypeScript and Python. You don’t need to be a full-stack engineer, but you should be able to ship a small fix without a PR review cycle.
- CI/CD fluency :- GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent. You’ve wired tests into deploy pipelines.
- Product sensibility, i.e You notice when padding is off, when a loading state is missing, when error copy doesn’t help the user. You care about the surface, not just the internals.
- Startup-grade autonomy, where you don’t need a PM to tell you what’s broken. You find it, flag it, and fix it.
Bonus Points
- Experience with video/media processing pipelines or ML model output validation.
- You’ve been the first QA hire at a startup and built the function from zero.
Location & Culture
- This is an in-office role in Bangalore (we're building fast and hands-on)
- Must be comfortable with a high-paced environment and startup speed
- Your department has full autonomy to do whatever it takes to get more people in the funnel.
Why you'll love this role
- Own QA end-to-end at a company tackling one of AI’s toughest problems: making raw video as awesome video messages.
- Build and lead a team with the resources and autonomy to experiment boldly
- Direct access to founders and cross-functional teams (product, engineering, design)
- Make an impact on a product that can redefine how the world interacts with video
