Job SummaryWe are looking for a QC Engineer to ensure that all raw materials, in‑process components, and finished products (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel fittings, flanges, etc.) meet customer specifications, national/international standards (ASTM, ASME, B16, etc.), and our ISO 9001 quality system requirements. The engineer will conduct inspections, tests, and audits and drive corrective actions to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and execute quality checks on raw materials (ingots, plates, bars, billets) and finished products as per approved inspection procedures and customer requirements.
- Conduct in‑process and final inspections of pipe fittings (elbows, tees, reducers, caps, etc.) and flanges for dimensions, surface finish, weld joints (if applicable), heat‑treatment records, and identification markings.
- Perform or coordinate hydrostatic testing, dimensional checks using verniers, micrometers, gauges, and other calibrated instruments; maintain accurate test records and calibration logs.
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation such as inspection reports, NCRs, test reports, material traceability records, and compliance certificates (MTCs, ISIRs, etc.) in line with ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
- Participate in internal audits and support external audits (customer, notified body, certification body) by providing evidence of conformance, closing non‑conformities, and implementing corrective/preventive actions.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, and Dispatch to ensure quality is maintained at every stage, including raw‑material receipt, storage, heat‑treatment, machining, testing, packing, and shipping.
- Identify recurring defects or process issues and work with production and engineering to recommend design/process improvements or updated inspection methods.
- Ensure that all quality activities and documentation are in line with applicable standards (ASTM, ASME, B16, customer specifications, ISO 9001) and statutory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Production Engineering or related discipline. Diploma with relevant experience may also be considered.
- 2–5 years of experience in quality control/engineering in a manufacturing environment, preferably in steel, pipe fittings, flanges, or pressure‑vessel components.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management system, internal audits, and root‑cause analysis tools (e.g., 5‑Why, Fishbone).
- Working knowledge of relevant ASTM/ASME/B16 standards and hydro‑testing, dimensional inspection, and NDT principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, inspection procedures, and MTCs.
