Job Role: Quality Control Technician
Job Description
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure components meet specified tolerances and engineering requirements.
- Inspect incoming materials, machined parts, fabricated components, and mechanical assemblies.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, fits, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Outside/Inside Micrometres, Height Gauges, Dial Gauges, Bore Gauges, Feeler Gauges, Thread Gauges, Plug Gauges, and Surface Gauges.
- Inspect machining, welding, fabrication, grinding, and assembly operations.
- Identify dimensional defects, manufacturing issues, and non-conformities during inspection.
- Assist in preparing NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) for rejected or non-compliant components.
- Maintain accurate inspection, quality, and traceability records.
- Support QC Engineers during customer, supplier, and third-party inspections.
- Follow company quality procedures, work instructions, safety standards, and inspection processes.
- Travel to vendor facilities for inspection and quality verification; travel may be required more than 50% of the time.
- Maintain proper documentation and inspection reports using MS Excel and MS Word.
- Communicate quality issues clearly with engineers, production teams, and external vendors.
- Report product defects honestly and maintain high quality and integrity despite production pressure.
- Adapt to changing work environments, production requirements, and working schedules.
- Stay willing to learn new inspection methods, tools, and manufacturing technologies.
- Contribute to improving inspection processes, productivity, and overall product quality.
Key Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control or mechanical inspection.
- Experience in precision manufacturing or aerospace manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical precision measuring instruments and inspection methods.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, fits, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Strong observation and defect-identification skills.
- Basic working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively for vendor inspections.
