About Gausiya Exports
Gausiya Exports is a Mumbai-based seafood export company with over two decades of experience supplying frozen seafood to buyers across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. We export Loligo Squid, Cuttlefish, Shrimp (PUD, KKD, Deepsea), Indian Mackerel, Horse Mackerel, Tilapia, and other species to markets including China, Malaysia, Spain, Portugal, UAE, and Vietnam.
We are in an active growth phase building new buyer relationships, expanding our product range, and strengthening our supply chain quality standards. This hire is central to that mission.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on, experienced Quality Control Executive who understands seafood processing from the inside not just from a checklist. You will be the quality backbone of our export operations, responsible for ensuring every container that leaves under the Gausiya Exports name meets the specification our buyers have confirmed.
This is not a desk job. You will be on the processing floor, at landing centres, coordinating with processors, and interfacing with third-party inspectors. Your decisions will directly impact buyer satisfaction, repeat orders, and the company's reputation in competitive international markets.
What You Will Do
- Inspect incoming raw material (squid, shrimp, fish) at landing centres and factory intake — assess freshness, colour, size grading, and reject degraded material before it enters the processing line
- Oversee and supervise packing operations at Allana and other processing facilities — ensure spec compliance on glazing percentage, size segregation, pack format, net weight, and labelling
- Coordinate pre-shipment inspection with third-party agencies (SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas) — prepare product, ensure sampling is done correctly, review and approve inspection reports
- Maintain HACCP documentation, batch records, temperature logs, and cold chain records for every shipment
- Monitor and report on rejection rates, quality trends, and raw material performance across suppliers
- Communicate directly with overseas buyers on quality matters — respond to claims, share product photos and reports, build buyer confidence through transparency
- Advise on best practices for squid handling — icing protocols, transit time management, melanosis prevention, freezing standards
- Work closely with the management team on processor selection and performance scoring
What We Are Looking For
Must have:
- BSc or MSc in Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Food Technology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years hands-on QC or production experience at a seafood export company or processing facility
- Specific knowledge of cephalopod (squid, cuttlefish) processing — size grading, glazing, block packing, IQF standards, colour quality assessment
- Familiarity with EIC inspection requirements, HACCP systems, and export documentation
- English communication skills — written and spoken
- Willingness to travel to processing location Lote MIDC as required
Good to have:
- Experience with EU or GCC export compliance requirements
- Knowledge of shrimp processing PUD, IQF, STPP vs non-STPP treatment
- Existing relationships with SGS, Intertek, or Bureau Veritas inspection teams
- Experience dealing directly with overseas buyers on quality matters
What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Direct reporting to company director — your work has real impact, not bureaucratic layers
- Opportunity to grow with the company as we scale from current volumes to peak season targets
- Exposure to international seafood trade — buyer communication, market standards, global quality benchmarks
- Mumbai-based role with field travel to key processing locations
Who Should Apply
If you have stood on a squid processing floor and know the difference between melanosis and normal pigment spread — we want to talk to you.
If you can look at a block of frozen Loligo and tell us whether it was properly iced on the boat before it was even cut open — we want to talk to you.
If you understand that quality in seafood export is won or lost in the 48 hours between catch and freezer — we want to talk to you.
