Role Description We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented QA Engineer to validate scheduling and project planning solutions used in construction, engineering, and project management environments. The role involves testing schedule creation, resource allocation, project timelines, dependencies, critical path calculations, reporting functionalities, and integrations with industry-standard scheduling tools.
The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of project scheduling concepts, testing methodologies, and schedule management software to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of scheduling applications.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Testing
- Design, develop, and execute test cases for scheduling and project planning applications.
- Validate project schedule creation, modification, and management workflows.
- Verify functionality related to task dependencies, milestones, calendars, baselines, and resource assignments.
- Ensure compliance with business requirements and functional specifications.
Schedule Validation
- Test critical path calculations and schedule logic.
- Validate activity sequencing, predecessor-successor relationships, and lag/lead configurations.
- Verify schedule updates, forecasting, progress tracking, and earned value calculations.
- Ensure accuracy of project timelines, milestones, and resource utilization data.
Integration & Data Testing
- Validate data exchange between scheduling applications and enterprise systems.
- Test integrations with project management, ERP, BIM, and reporting platforms.
- Verify import/export functionality for formats such as XER, XML, CSV, and Microsoft Project files.
- Perform data integrity and consistency checks across integrated systems.
Defect Management
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project teams to resolve issues.
- Conduct regression testing after bug fixes and enhancements.
- Ensure defects are resolved before production releases.
Performance & Quality Assurance
- Test application performance with large and complex project schedules.
- Validate system responsiveness, reliability, and stability.
- Participate in release testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and quality reviews.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance product quality.
Documentation & Reporting
- Create and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and execution reports.
- Document defects, root causes, and testing outcomes.
- Provide regular status updates to stakeholders and project teams.
- Support audit and compliance requirements through proper documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Software Testing, QA, Project Controls, or Scheduling.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling principles and methodologies.
- Experience working with scheduling software such as Oracle Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall development methodologies.
