Job Summary
The QHSE Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining quality standards, health & safety practices, hygiene compliance, and environmental sustainability across hotel operations. The role ensures compliance with Indian statutory regulations, food safety standards, and environmental guidelines while promoting a safe and high-quality experience for guests and employees.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management
- Ensure hotel operations follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and service quality standards.
- Conduct regular internal quality audits across all departments.
- Monitor guest feedback, service quality indicators, and support departments in continuous improvement.
- Assist in maintaining quality certifications such as ISO 9001 Quality Management System (if applicable).
2. Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations under Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and hazard identification across hotel premises.
- Investigate workplace accidents and implement preventive measures.
- Conduct regular fire safety drills and emergency preparedness training.
3. Food Safety & Hygiene
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
- Monitor hygiene standards in kitchens, restaurants, and food storage areas.
- Implement food safety systems such as HACCP Food Safety System.
- Conduct hygiene audits and training for kitchen and F&B staff.
4. Environmental Management
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations set by the Central Pollution Control Board and state authorities.
- Implement sustainable initiatives such as waste management, energy conservation, and water conservation.
- Monitor environmental performance and support green hotel initiatives.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain QHSE documentation, reports, audit records, and incident reports.
- Coordinate with government authorities during inspections.
- Ensure compliance with local laws such as the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1960 (for Kerala-based hotels).
- Prepare monthly QHSE reports for management review.
Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Food Safety & Quality Management / B.Tech. / or any other relevant qualifications.
- Additional certifications preferred:
- Certification in food safety and hygiene compliance
- HACCP Food Safety System
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (preferred).
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in QHSE / Safety / Compliance roles.
- Prior experience in hotel, resort, wellness retreat, or hospitality industry preferred.
