Role Description
The Quality Control Manager will ensure the quality, consistency, and compliance of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. This hands-on role requires expertise in sample preparation, Gas Chromatography (GC), and Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), along with strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills. The manager will also lead and mentor a team of laboratory professionals, implement and optimize quality control protocols, and collaborate across production, R&D, and procurement to uphold NS Mint’s high standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry / Chemical Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant experience in quality control or analytical laboratories
- Experience in essential oils (particularly Mentha arvensis, Mentha piperita, and Spearmint), flavours & fragrances, pharmaceuticals, or chemicals preferred
Key Skills & Requirements
- Prepare and standardise samples from raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods; maintain traceability
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain GC and GC-MS systems; perform qualitative and quantitative analyses
- Develop, validate, and optimize analytical methods; troubleshoot instruments and data inconsistencies
- Evaluate and approve/reject raw materials; conduct batch release testing and monitor product consistency
- Maintain detailed records, prepare Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and ensure compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards
- Supervise and train QC team members; uphold safety and quality protocols
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and procurement teams; support resolution of quality-related issues
- Expertise in essential oils, mint derivatives, or natural products (highly preferred)
- Deep understanding of chromatographic profiling of natural compounds and ability to detect adulteration
- Familiarity with organoleptic evaluation of essential oils
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
