Job details:
QA Engineer (Manual + Automation) Remote (India) | 1–3 years experience | $600–$800/month
We're hiring a QA Engineer to own quality at Plansom from day one. Most teams don't fail because of bad strategy, they fail at execution. Plansom is the AI execution coach that closes that gap. It turns strategy into a structured plan, scores the quality of the work, surfaces what's blocking the team, and tells managers each week what to change next. We're not another task tracker,we're the coach built into the product.
We're building something genuinely ambitious: a product that doesn't just track work, but actively coaches individuals and teams to execute better, with memory, judgement, and a point of view. The scope is huge. The product is growing fast. And the person who joins now will help shape how quality is built into a category-defining AI product from the ground up.
Read this before applying
We don't have a QA function yet. You are it. There's no senior QA above you to set the strategy, no playbook to follow, and no team to lean on when things get ambiguous. You'll define how we test, what we automate, and where the quality bar sits. If you're looking for a structured environment with clear processes already in place, this role will frustrate you. If you've been waiting for the chance to build that structure yourself, keep reading.
We also expect the people who apply to be genuinely curious about what we're building. Take a look at Plansom before you apply. Candidates who've actually used the product stand out immediately.
What you'll do
- Define and own the QA strategy across web and APIs both manual and automated
- Write and maintain automated test scripts independently from day one
- Create test cases, plans, and scenarios from scratch for features that have never been tested before
- Identify, document, and track bugs with clear reproduction steps
- Run regression, smoke, and functional testing
- Work directly with engineers and founders to reproduce and resolve issues
- Continuously raise the quality bar as the product grows
What we're looking for
- 1–3 years QA experience across multiple products, teams, or domains (we weight variety over years — if you've only worked on one product, this role likely isn't the right fit)
- Able to define and document your own test strategy from scratch, not just execute someone else's plan
- Can clearly articulate why you chose a testing approach, not just what you tested
- Hands-on automation experience with Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress — you can write and run automated tests on day one without hand-holding
- API testing experience (Postman / REST APIs)
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows
- Strong written communication — you'll document your findings, decisions, and test strategies without being asked
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make decisions without waiting for direction
Nice to have
- Python or JavaScript proficiency
- Exposure to performance testing
- Experience in Agile/Scrum teams
- Prior experience as the first or only QA at a company
Why this is a rare opportunity
- You'll build the QA function from scratch. Most engineers at your level inherit someone else's framework. You'll design ours, the tools, the standards, the automation strategy. That experience is hard to get anywhere else this early in a career.
- You'll work on a genuinely interesting product. Plansom isn't a CRUD app. It's an AI coach with judgement, memory, and a point of view. Testing it means thinking about AI behaviour, plan quality, coaching outputs not just buttons and forms.
- You'll work directly with founders. No layers, no middle management. You'll be in the room where decisions are made, and your work will visibly shape the product week to week.
- You'll grow fast. The clear path here is into an automation-focused QA lead role as we scale. The people who join us now are the ones who'll lead teams in 18 months.
- You'll help build something category-defining. Plansom is positioning itself as the first true AI execution coach. Joining now means being part of that story from the beginning.
