This position requires a hands-on leader who can develop and implement comprehensive quality strategies, foster automation initiatives, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams—engineering, product, and business—to embed quality into every stage of the development lifecycle. The QA Lead will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-confidence, scalable, and reliable products that meet customer expectations and business objectives. This role is critical in maintaining Neighborly®’s reputation for excellence by proactively identifying risks, eliminating bottlenecks, and enhancing overall product quality and user experience across distributed systems and multi-team environments.
Qualifications

A strong background in test automation, including hands-on experience with frameworks such as Playwright and Karate, is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of implementing automation strategies, developing test plans, and managing risk analysis and defect tracking. Experience working within continuous delivery models and integrating quality practices into CI/CD pipelines is required. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills are necessary to coordinate with distributed teams and external testing partners effectively. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with a deep understanding of modern testing methodologies, including Agile, Kanban, and Waterfall.
Responsibilities
- Embed quality engineering best practices across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring early defect detection and comprehensive automation coverage.
- Collaborate with product owners to define clear, testable acceptance criteria aligned with business goals.
- Establish and monitor key quality metrics such as test coverage, defect leakage, and cycle time to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Design and lead comprehensive test strategies across UI, API, integration, and data layers, ensuring robust validation of all system components.
- Build and enhance automation frameworks utilizing modern tools like Playwright and Karate, scaling automation efforts to improve efficiency and coverage.
- Implement AI-assisted testing solutions, including agentic test generation, intelligent failure analysis, and self-healing automation to increase productivity and defect detection capabilities.
- Drive shift-left testing practices by integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, reducing release cycle times.
- Identify and address delivery bottlenecks through data-driven insights, optimizing testing workflows and release processes.
- Manage collaboration with distributed teams and external testing partners, ensuring alignment and quality standards are maintained.
- Provide comprehensive, executive-level reports on quality status, potential risks, and release readiness to stakeholders.
- Integrate quality signals with observability and production insights to enable proactive defect detection and rapid resolution.
