Job details:
Grey Parrot Systems (GPARROT) is hiring a Senior QA Automation Engineer with mandatory hands-on Playwright automation expertise and proven AI-assisted testing experience — building intelligent, scalable, and production-grade test automation solutions for our US client engagements.
About Grey Parrot Systems
Grey Parrot Systems (GPARROT) is a women-owned, BEP-certified IT services firm headquartered in Naperville, IL. We partner with mid-market enterprises to deliver AI-first, governance-driven digital transformation. Our team of seasoned CIO/CTO practitioners works side-by-side with clients across retail, logistics, manufacturing, and healthcare — and we're growing.
About the Role
This is a senior QA automation role for an engineer who has gone deep on Playwright and actively uses AI tools to accelerate test design, generation, and execution. This is not a role for someone who has dabbled in AI testing — we need someone who uses AI coding agents and AI-assisted QA tools as a core part of their daily workflow. You will own test automation across complex, fast-moving client engagements — designing frameworks, building coverage, integrating with CI/CD pipelines, and driving quality from requirements through production. If you are a senior QA engineer who combines Playwright mastery with genuine AI testing fluency — this role is for you.
Must-Have Skills — Both Are Mandatory
- 5–8 years of QA automation engineering experience
- Playwright + TypeScript — mandatory — strong hands-on expertise building and maintaining production-grade Playwright automation frameworks
- AI-assisted testing experience — mandatory — active daily use of AI tools for test case generation, test design, coverage analysis, and automation acceleration (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or AI-powered QA platforms)
- Experience designing and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks from scratch
- Solid API testing experience — REST / SOAP
- Hands-on experience with Jira and Zephyr for test management and traceability
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines — GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps — for automated test execution
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, and quality engineering principles
- Requirement-driven automation mindset — ability to convert user stories and acceptance criteria into automated test coverage
- Comfortable working US-aligned hours for overlap with client and delivery teams
- Strong written and oral English communication skills
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade Playwright + TypeScript automation frameworks across web and API layers
- Use AI coding agents and AI-assisted testing tools daily — generating test cases, accelerating coverage, validating test logic, and optimizing automation scripts
- Convert business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and design specs into robust, traceable automated test coverage
- Build and maintain reusable automation components — page objects, test utilities, test data strategies, and quality governance standards
- Integrate test automation workflows with Jira, Zephyr, CI/CD pipelines, and quality dashboards for end-to-end visibility
- Implement visual validation, component-level verification, regression testing, and quality gates to catch defects early
- Execute functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test suites across client engagements
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and architects to improve testability and define automation-ready requirements
- Leverage AI tools to continuously improve test coverage, reduce flakiness, and accelerate release cycles
- Maintain clear, comprehensive test documentation — test plans, test cases, defect reports, and automation runbooks
- Mentor junior QA engineers on Playwright best practices and AI-assisted testing workflows
