Role Description This full-time remote role is for a Python & Scratch Mentor who will teach coding concepts to learners ages 5–18 through live online classes. The mentor will design and deliver age-appropriate lessons using Python and Scratch, including interactive projects, exercises, and games that build core programming and problem-solving skills. Day-to-day tasks include preparing lesson plans, conducting live sessions, monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and adapting teaching methods to different learning styles. The mentor will also collaborate with the teaching team to improve curriculum materials, track learning outcomes, and communicate with parents or guardians as needed to support each learner’s growth.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong programming skills in Python and experience teaching or building projects in Scratch.
- Candidates should possess skills in curriculum planning, lesson preparation, and explaining technical concepts in simple, age-appropriate language.
- Candidates should possess skills in online instruction, classroom management in a virtual setting, and engaging learners through interactive activities.
- Candidates should possess clear spoken and written communication skills in English and the ability to give constructive, supportive feedback.
- Candidates should possess patience, empathy, and an enthusiasm for working with children and teens from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring in STEM or coding for young learners is highly beneficial.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
- Reliable high-speed internet, familiarity with video conferencing tools, and comfort with digital teaching platforms are required.
