Role Description
We are looking for a versatile and motivated Python Developer with 3 years of hands-on experience to join our fast-moving startup. In this role, you will primarily work across two key domains: data lake engineering and backend development. You will be expected to move fluidly between building robust backend services, supporting scalable data pipelines, and contributing to AI-powered features where your Python skills naturally extend into LLM integrations and API workflows.
This is an ideal opportunity for a developer who thrives in ambiguous, high-ownership environments and enjoys solving problems across the full engineering stack.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable Python-based backend services and APIs.
Develop and optimize data lake pipelines using technologies like Spark, Hive, and Trino
Build and integrate RESTful APIs and services with clean, well-documented interfaces.
Work with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB) to design efficient data schemas and queries.
Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to integrate AI-driven features into product workflows.
Contribute to workflow orchestration and platform configuration tasks as the product evolves.
Write clean, testable code and participate in peer code reviews.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across services and data flows.
Mandatory Skills
Python (3 years): Production-grade development, packaging, and testing.
APIs : Solid understanding of REST; ability to design and consume APIs effectively.
Network Protocols: HTTP, REST, gRPC, WebSockets — understanding of how data moves between services
Data Lake Technologies: At-least Hands-on with one of the component Apache Spark, Hive, and/or Trino for large-scale data processing.
Workflow orchestration: Experience with tools like Apache Airflow, Prefect, or similar for pipeline scheduling and management.
Databases: Strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and practical experience with NoSQL stores (MongoDB or equivalent).
Backend Engineering: Demonstrated ability to build and deploy scalable, production-ready backend services.
Good - To - Have Skills
These will set you apart
Exposure to AI/ML systems: Familiarity with model serving, embeddings, or AI platform integrations.
AI Concepts: Understanding of function calling, tool use, agents, or LLM service integration (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain).
Platform Configuration: Comfort with configuration-driven development, environment management, or infrastructure-as-code basics.
Who you are
A generalist at heart — you can move between data engineering, backend, and AI tasks without friction.
Ownership-oriented: You take problems from ambiguity to solution independently.
Startup-ready: You are comfortable with changing priorities, lean teams, and high-impact work.
- A strong communicator who can align with cross-functional teammates quickly.
