About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team. This role requires individuals who are familiar with high-quality public GitHub repositories, particularly those with significant community engagement and recognition, such as repositories with over 5000 stars. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to a critical project involving the analysis and enhancement of open-source libraries. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on impactful projects, collaborate with researchers and developers worldwide, and potentially lead a team of junior engineers.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software engineering with a minimum of four years of professional experience. Proficiency in Python is essential, alongside familiarity with Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup. Candidates should have a solid understanding of navigating complex codebases and be comfortable running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally. Experience with open-source contributions or evaluations is advantageous. Additional preferred qualifications include prior participation in large language model (LLM) research or testing, and experience developing developer tools or automation agents.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source libraries hosted on GitHub, identifying bugs, vulnerabilities, and areas for improvement.
- Set up and configure repositories, including containerization using Docker and environment configuration to facilitate testing and development.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and quality, providing insights and recommendations for improvement to ensure robust software performance.
- Modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of large language models (LLMs) in bug-fixing and code correction scenarios.
- Collaborate with researchers and developers to design experiments, identify challenging repositories, and define project scope for LLM evaluation.
- Lead or mentor junior engineers, guiding them through complex tasks and fostering a collaborative team environment.
