About the Role:
Astam Diagnostics is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchase Executive to manage procurement of both raw materials (for rapid test kits and IVD products) and packaging materials (such as pouches, mono cartons, outer cartons, trays, etc.). The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, vendor management experience, and an understanding of quality and regulatory standards related to medical device manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and manage reliable suppliers for raw materials and packaging materials.
- Source materials like membranes, plastic components, buffers, desiccants, aluminium pouches, cartons, etc., are used in IVD and rapid test card manufacturing.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimise cost and efficiency.
- Raise purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure the timely availability of materials.
- Coordinate with QA, Production, and Inventory teams to ensure compliance and timely procurement.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and develop alternate supplier options.
- Ensure all procurement complies with internal SOPs, regulatory standards (like WHO-GMP, CE), and company quality requirements.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and ensure procurement cost savings without compromising quality.
- Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities and prepare relevant reports.
- Handle import documentation (if applicable), customs, and logistics coordination.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Graduate/Diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in raw material and packaging material procurement (experience in diagnostics, pharma, or medical devices preferred).
- Strong knowledge of vendor development and sourcing strategies.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and inventory management systems (e.g., Tally, ERP).
- Familiarity with regulatory procurement standards (WHO, CE, ISO).
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Experience in purchasing materials related to rapid test kits, lateral flow assays, or other IVD products.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
- Proactive, organized, and results-driven approach.
