Role Description:
The Purchaser role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Purchaser will manage end-to-end procurement activities for marine and offshore projects, including sourcing suppliers, requesting and evaluating quotations, and negotiating prices and contractual terms. The role involves coordinating purchase orders, tracking delivery schedules, and ensuring timely availability of materials, equipment, and services in line with project requirements and budget constraints. The Purchaser will collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and ship management teams to align procurement plans with technical specifications and operational needs. Day-to-day responsibilities also include maintaining vendor relationships, updating procurement records, monitoring inventory levels, and supporting compliance with company policies and relevant industry standards.
Qualifications:
- 1 to 2 years of experience in procurement and purchasing skills, including supplier sourcing, quotation evaluation, and price negotiation, vendor relationship management, and coordination with internal project and technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Engineering, or a related field; relevant marine or offshore industry experience is an advantage.
- Familiarity with marine, offshore, or industrial equipment and materials, with the ability to interpret technical specifications and requirements.
- Proficiency in using procurement or ERP software, MS Office tools, and maintaining accurate purchasing and inventory records.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on cost efficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Understanding of compliance, safety, and quality standards applicable to marine and offshore operations.
