Position Summary
The Purchase Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing all procurement activities related to the solar industry. This role requires efficient sourcing, negotiation, vendor management, and inventory control to ensure the timely supply of solar panels, electrical components, inverters, structures, cables, and other project-related materials. The Purchase Manager will work closely with project, engineering, finance, and operations teams to ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Planning
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies for solar materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with project and engineering teams to understand material requirements and forecast demand.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Monitor market availability and pricing trends for solar-related products.
2. Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and maintain strong relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts to achieve the best value.
- Conduct vendor performance evaluations regularly.
- Ensure vendors meet quality, safety, and compliance standards.
3. Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels of solar components and electrical materials.
- Establish reorder levels to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Coordinate with stores and warehouse teams for material tracking and stock verification.
- Ensure proper documentation of inward and outward materials.
4. Cost Control
- Track purchasing budgets and control procurement costs effectively.
- Compare quotations and prepare cost analysis reports before finalizing purchases.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Continuously evaluate market trends to improve purchasing efficiency.
5. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate purchase records, quotations, invoices, vendor agreements, and related documents.
- Prepare reports for audits and financial reviews.
- Ensure proper PO (Purchase Order) process and approval procedures are followed.
6. Risk Management
- Identify supply chain risks, material shortages, and vendor-related issues.
- Develop backup vendor options and contingency plans.
- Ensure timely resolution of procurement-related problems.
7. Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate with finance, operations, project, and engineering teams for smooth procurement activities.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding purchasing status, vendor performance, and cost savings.
- Support project execution through timely material availability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or purchase management, preferably in the solar industry.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of solar materials, electrical components, and procurement processes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in ERP software, MS Excel, and procurement systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
