Purchase Manager / Assistant Manager — Procurement
📍 Kolkata | Full-Time | Immediate Requirement
EFRAC (Edward Food Research & Analysis Centre Ltd.) - a QIMA Company and one of India's most accredited Testing, Inspection & Certification organisations - is expanding rapidly and looking for an experienced Purchase Manager / Assistant Manager to lead and manage procurement for our growing infrastructure and laboratory operations.
The Role:
You will be responsible for end-to-end procurement of Electrical, Mechanical and Civil materials, equipment and services — ensuring timely sourcing, cost efficiency, vendor management and compliance with internal procurement policies.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Manage procurement of electrical, mechanical and civil items - switchgears, cables, HVAC, UPS systems, laboratory furniture, civil construction materials and related services
✅ Identify, evaluate, onboard and manage a reliable vendor/supplier base
✅ Float enquiries, obtain competitive quotations, negotiate pricing and finalise purchase orders
✅ Coordinate with project, facility, maintenance and laboratory teams to understand procurement requirements
✅ Ensure timely delivery of materials aligned with project and operational timelines
✅ Maintain purchase records, GRNs, vendor performance data and procurement MIS
✅ Drive cost reduction through competitive bidding, rate contracts and long-term vendor agreements
✅ Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, approval matrices and budgetary controls
✅ Coordinate with finance and accounts for invoice processing and payment follow-up
✅ Support AMC and service contract management for facility and laboratory equipment
What You Must Bring:
🎓 B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering — or B.Sc. / Diploma with strong procurement experience
📋 5–10 years of procurement experience with a focus on electrical, mechanical and/or civil categories
🏭 Prior experience in a laboratory, healthcare, manufacturing, infrastructure or facility management environment preferred
💼 Strong negotiation, vendor management and commercial skills
📊 Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems and MS Office
⚡ Good understanding of technical specifications for electrical, mechanical and civil items
