Job Description:
Job Summary: The Purchase Executive will be responsible for procuring raw materials, components, machinery, and services required for uninterrupted production. The role focuses on cost optimization, quality assurance, and timely availability of materials to support production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure raw materials, components, consumables, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) items
- Develop and maintain a reliable vendor base for manufacturing needs
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers
- Generate and process purchase orders based on production plans and material requirements (MRP)
- Coordinate closely with production, planning, and stores teams to ensure material availability
- Track shipments and ensure on-time delivery to avoid production delays
- Conduct vendor evaluation, audits, and performance monitoring
- Ensure materials meet quality standards and specifications in coordination with QA/QC teams
- Maintain proper documentation for procurement activities and compliance
- Monitor inventory levels and avoid stock-outs or overstocking
- Handle emergency/urgent purchases for breakdowns or production issues
- Stay updated with market trends, price fluctuations, and alternative sourcing options
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing procurement processes
- Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Negotiation and vendor management skills
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications/drawings
- Inventory planning and cost control mindset
- Strong coordination and multitasking abilities
- Problem-solving skills, especially under production pressure
- Working familiar with MS office & AI tools
Qualifications:
- Graduate, or related field in Purchase
- 2–3 years of experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment
- Experience in handling industrial vendors and technical purchases
- Exposure to lean manufacturing or cost reduction initiatives
