Role Description The Purchase Engineer/Executive (Fire Fighting) is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end purchasing activities for fire protection and detection equipment and materials, including vendor identification, evaluation, and negotiation to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. Daily tasks include preparing and processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders, coordinating with project, engineering, and site teams to understand material requirements, and maintaining accurate procurement records and documentation. The role also involves monitoring inventory levels, tracking deliveries, resolving discrepancies with suppliers, and supporting compliance with safety and quality standards. The Purchase Engineer/Executive collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure uninterrupted project execution and adherence to company policies and client specifications.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes and purchase management in engineering or construction-related projects.
- Ability to handle purchase planning and manage purchase orders, including documentation, tracking, and follow-up.
- Solid analytical skills for vendor comparison, cost analysis, and optimization of procurement decisions.
- Experience or familiarity with fire fighting systems and related equipment (e.g., hydrants, sprinklers, foam systems, gas suppression) is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain, Commerce, or a related field; relevant experience in procurement or purchase department is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic ERP or procurement software, with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities, with capacity to coordinate across cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Commitment to safety, adherence to quality standards, and willingness to work on-site in Mumbai.
