Role Description The Purchase Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and sourcing materials, equipment, and services required for ongoing construction projects. Day-to-day tasks include obtaining and comparing quotations, negotiating with vendors, preparing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to project sites. The Purchase Engineer coordinates closely with project managers, site engineers, and the accounts team to align purchasing decisions with project timelines and budgets. The role also involves maintaining vendor relationships, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and procurement processes, preferably within the civil and infrastructure sector.
- Ability to conduct cost analysis, compare quotations, and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers and contractors.
- Proficiency in using MS Office and basic ERP or procurement software for purchase order creation, tracking, and reporting.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple purchase requests and meet project deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project, site, and finance teams as well as external vendors.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; prior experience in a purchase or procurement role in construction is an advantage.
