*Overview:*
The Purchase Engineer plays a crucial role in sourcing technical equipment and materials, ensuring that they meet project requirements and specifications.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Handle incoming inquiries, review requirements, and assign reference numbers for tracking.
* Identify potential suppliers/vendors, request and evaluate quotations, and prepare price comparison statements.
* Negotiate with vendors on pricing, terms, delivery timelines, and commercial conditions.
* Prepare and issue Purchase Orders / Work Orders and coordinate order acknowledgments.
* Monitor supplier performance, follow up on delivery status, and ensure material availability.
* Conduct quality checks on received materials, verify documentation, and report discrepancies.
* Maintain procurement records, supplier database, and documentation for audit and compliance.
* Coordinate with internal teams (Engineering, Accounts, Stores) to align procurement activities.
*Skills & Qualifications*
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Production) or equivalent.
* Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
* Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP or procurement systems.
* Ability to understand technical specifications and match supplier capabilities accordingly.
*Experience*
* Prior experience in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing or engineering environment preferred.
