Brief About The Projects Business –
The Projects Division undertakes Design, Engineering Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of
Turnkey Projects For The Following
Outdoor EHV & HV Switchyards up to and including 220 kV
Indoor Sub-stations, Overhead and Under Ground Distribution Systems
Industrial Electrification for lighting and power distribution
Qualification: Electrical engineering Degree/Diploma
Experience: 5-10 years of experience in procurement for power T&D/substation/ EPC projects. Experience in
both AIS and GIS substations preferred
Job Purpose: Responsible for procurement activities related to substation projects (up to 220kV or as per project
scope), ensuring timely sourcing of materials, equipment, and services in line with project timelines, quality
standards, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Planning:
Collaborate with project and engineering teams to prepare procurement schedules aligned with project
execution plans.
Identify long lead items and prioritize sourcing accordingly.
Vendor Management
Identify, evaluate, and pre-qualify suppliers for electrical and civil components (e.g., transformers,
switchgear, CT/PTs, GIS/AIS, control panels, cables, structures).
Maintain and develop strong vendor relationships and conduct regular performance evaluations.
Purchase Execution
Float RFQs/RFPs, conduct techno-commercial evaluations, negotiate terms, and issue Purchase
Orders (POs).
Ensure compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and commercial terms.
Cost Optimization
Negotiate pricing and payment terms to achieve cost savings without compromising on quality and
delivery timelines.
Track market trends and material pricing to inform strategic sourcing decisions.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement documentation, including POs, contracts, vendor
agreements, and inspection records.
Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory regulations, and ISO procedures.
Logistics Coordination
Coordinate with logistics and site teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
Track dispatch schedules, manage delays, and resolve issues with transporters/vendors.
Project Coordination
Work closely with project planning, engineering, and site teams for material requirement forecasting
and inventory control.
Attend project review meetings and update on procurement status and challenges.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of substation project requirements and technical specifications.
Knowledge of EPC procurement practices.
Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
Proficiency in SAP systems and MS Office tools.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
