Mechanic III: Salary Range $23.37- $35.06/Hourly
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of unskilled and skilled maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and equipment installation on County vehicles and equipment.
Mechanic IV: Salary Range $25.71- $38.56/Hourly
Under limited supervision, performs lead duties over Mechanic staff in the Fleet Department. Performs a variety of highly skilled maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and equipment installation on County vehicles and equipment. May fill in for supervisor in their absence.

LOCATION: 701 W 4th St, Pueblo, CO 81003Position Duties
Mechanic III:
- Performs maintenance and repair for all types of vehicles and equipment, including engine repairs and major overhauls and installation of radio and other safety equipment.
- Diagnoses equipment and determines costs.
- Repairs vehicles and equipment. Works on all aspects of vehicle repair from engines and major overhauls to brakes, steering, electrical, suspension, HVAC systems, tires, etc.
- Installs two-way radio equipment for all County vehicles.
- Checks and installs other safety equipment, striping and lighting.
- Conducts safety inspections.
- Maintains necessary records of all work performed using computerized fleet management system.
- Completes all necessary paperwork related to job assignments and time cards.
- Transports vehicles for estimates and outside repairs.
- Maintains work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition; responsible for reporting unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor.
- Makes emergency road calls, which may require wrecker service or special transportation.
- Answers phone and radio calls.
- Orders and picks up parts.
- Provides instruction on equipment operation.
- Makes welding repairs.
- Performs on-site service and emergency calls.
- Fills in for other staff as necessary and/or required.

Minimum Qualifications
Mechanic III:
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency preferred
EXPERIENCE:- Three (3) years or more experience performing vehicle maintenance and repair required
LICENSE/CERTIFICATE:- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license upon hire required
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, Forklift Operator Certification within 120 days of hire required
- Possession of, or ability to obtain ASE Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Certification preferred
- Possession of, one to three (1-3) current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications in Automotive required at hire in: Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Manual Drive Train and Axles, Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Heating and Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and/or Light Vehicle Diesel Engines.
- Automotive Service Excellence Master in Automotive Certification preferred
Mechanic IV:EDUCATION:- High School Diploma or GED equivalency preferred
EXPERIENCE:- Five (5) years or more of progressively responsible experience performing vehicle maintenance and repair required
LICENSE/CERTIFICATE:- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license upon hire required
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, Forklift Operator Certification within 120 days of hire required
- Possession of, or ability to obtain ASE Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Certification required at hire
- Possession of four (4) or more current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications in Automotive required at hire in: Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Manual Drive Train and Axles, Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Heating and Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and/or Light Vehicle Diesel Engines.
- Automotive Service Excellence Master in Automotive Certification preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, BOTH LEVELS:- NOTE: Similar or related Manufacturer Certification(s) will be considered in lieu of the required ASE Certifications
- NOTE: For preferred qualifications, the substitution of any combination of relevant and related education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability may be considered, including by way of example, specific experience or skill-based qualifications that may substitute for certain educational requirements, or a combination of relevant education and experience including supervisory experience.
- Must successfully pass background check required
- Must be able to pass post job offer physical screening required
- Must maintain License and Certifications current required
